How to cook frozen peas (the best way)

Frozen peas are one of the easiest side dish you can make for your family. And if you want to make them tasty - do not boil or steam them. Here is a delicious easy way to learn how to cook frozen peas so the whole family loves them.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ½ onion
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or squeeze half a lemon
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet on medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil
  • Once heated sauté onion and garlic for about 3 minutes until translucent
  • Add peas and cook for about 7 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice and salt and mix through
  • Serve

Notes

Other way of cooking 
    • boiled green peas - bring water to boil in a sauce pan and add the peas. Cook for about 3-4 minutes (check the packaging depending on which peas you bought). Drain, season with salt, olive oil and lemon juice and serve.
    • how long to steam - place the  peas in a steamer basket and cover. Once the water starts boiling it will take about 3-5 minutes for the peas to be cooked through. You can season them also with olive oil, lemon juice and salt.
    • roasted peas - roast in the oven at 200°C / 390° for about 20 minutes.
If giving to baby and worried about choking then smash the peas. Also remove salt from the recipe for kids under 2 years old.
