9 month old recipe avocado fruit salad

Fruit for breakfast anyone?

Need a nutritious, refreshing and calorie-packed breakfast? Not sure how to pack a meal full of good fats, carbohydrates, and calories? And above all, it needs to be delicious and sweet with a great texture so your 9-month-old will eat it? Oh yeah, and you need it to be prepared in like 5 minutes.

Don't worry, there are tons of fruits and vegetables which when combined perfectly provide a great meal which can satisfy both the baby's nutritional needs and personal preferences. And the Avocado Fruit Salad is exactly that.

Nutritional stuff

Avocado is known for its "good" fats. It's absolutely packed with them! It also provides sufficient calories so that the other foods in the meal can be "lighter" and with less energy. The only thing to watch out for when choosing your avocado is ripeness. A day before or after and it might not yet (or no longer) be that good.

Oranges are a good source of vitamin C, which is great for immunity and disease prevention. The white part of the outside of the orange contains a lot of fiber so it is good to leave it if your baby needs help with their digestion.

With their sweet taste strawberries give a great balance to the sour taste of the orange and neutral, but full avocado taste. The fact that they are a great antioxidant source and contain a decent amount of fiber can't hurt as well.

Preparation

The Avocado Fruit Salad is perfect to be baby-led weaned, mashed or pureed, but be aware that at this age your child should be getting used to eating textured foods instead of relying on purees.

This meal is super simple, either way. For BLW, simply slice up the ingredients and serve. Your little one might not eat it all. They might not even take a bite from one of the foods or they might choose only one. All of that is fine. The important thing is that it was offered.

If you're tempted to puree, consider mashing instead so you can introduce some textures.
