Why we love this Apple Spinach Smoothie recipe

  • Healthy green smoothie
  • Simple ingredients
  • You can make it using any kind of milk you want
  • Great breakfast or snack

Ingredients

Labelled ingredients on a white background.
  • Banana - bananas not only add natural sweetness to the smoothie but also contribute to its creamy texture. They are an excellent source of potassium, providing a natural energy boost and aiding in muscle function. The riper the banana the sweeter the taste.
  • Apple - the addition of a sweet apple introduces a refreshing flavor and a dose of dietary fiber. Apples are rich in vitamin C, adding an extra boost to your immune system.
  • Spinach - the star of this green smoothie, fresh spinach, is a nutrient powerhouse. Packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, it's an easy way to incorporate leafy greens into your diet without compromising on taste.
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk - for a dairy-free and luscious base, we've opted for almond milk. It adds a creamy consistency.

How to Make This Spinach Apple Smoothie

  1. Peel and Break the Banana - Start by peeling the banana and breaking it into two for easy blending.
  2. Core and Cut the Apple - Core the apple and cut it into smaller, more manageable pieces.
  3. Wash the Spinach - Ensure your spinach is fresh and clean by giving it a good wash.
  4. Add All Ingredients to the Blender - Combine the banana, apple, spinach, and almond milk in a high-speed blender.
  5. Blend Until Smooth - Blend the ingredients until you achieve a creamy smoothie consistency.

Additions and Variations

Feel free to personalize your drink by experimenting with these additions and variations:

  • Different milks - you can use different milks such as coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk, dairy milk or any other milk of choice
  • Chia Seeds - boost the nutritional content with a tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxseeds for added fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Hemp seeds - boost the nutritional content with a tablespoon of hemp seeds for added protein and healthy fats
  • Coconut Water - for a tropical twist, substitute some or all of the almond milk with coconut water.
  • Orange Juice or lemon juice - add a splash of citrusy goodness with a bit of fresh orange juice or lemon juice.
  • Greek Yogurt - enhance the creaminess and protein content with a scoop of Greek yogurt.
  • Nut Butter - elevate the richness and flavor by incorporating your favorite nut butter.
  • Raw honey - for sweetness
  • Thicker smoothie - for a thicker smoothie add some frozen banana chunks
  • Thinner smoothie - add more low fat milk or water

Storage

If you have leftovers or want to prepare ahead, store your spinach apple banana smoothie in an airtight container (glass smoothie bottle) in the refrigerator.

While the fresher, the better, it can typically be stored for up to 3 days. Give it a good shake or stir before enjoying. Remember, the vibrant green color may darken a bit over time, but the taste will remain just as delicious!

Incorporate this apple banana spinach smoothie into your routine, and discover the perfect way to enjoy a creamy, nutritious, and refreshing green smoothie that will leave you feeling energized and satisfied.
