Flu Season

With the autumn days creeping into winter ones, it's hello flu season! It's somehow that when this time of the year does come the immune function of your kids just shuts down. No matter what you do or think you're doing or how you are trying to prevent it, somehow it looks like there is nothing that offer that extra boost to your child's immune health.

Immune Support

The one thing I like to tell all parents is that we cannot work on building up the immune system only in the winter months. Immunity is something that the body is charging up on throughout the year.

So it is very important to have a balanced diet filled with fresh produce, fresh fruits and especially citrus fruits when in season.

A lot of kids are not very keen on eating raw fruit and veggies and this is where fresh juice, juice shots and real fruit juice comes really handy.

If you're interested, keep on reading to find out how to make the perfect and really easy immunity boost juice for the whole family.

Why We Love This Immunity Juice Booster

  • You can make it with a blender or a juicer, no limitation to one.
  • Takes just a few minutes to make.
  • A perfect drink for the whole family
  • Great recipe for kids as you can adapt it to your kids liking.
  • Natural fresh seasonal ingredients that provide anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune-boosting properties.

Immune Booster Juice Recipe Ingredients and Health Benefits

Labelled ingredients on a white background.

To make this simple immunity juice booster recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Kiwi: often neglected, kiwis are a great fruit with anti-inflammatory properties that I always advise people add to their nutrition when in season. That is why they are an ingredient of this juice recipe for immune system. They are filled with vitamin C, and a great source of vitamin K and copper (source).
  • Carrot: for a dose of beta carotene which has antioxidant properties, add a carrot to your immunity juice shot (source).
  • Ginger: for a healthy immune system, you'll want to add some ginger into your immune booster juice. Choose raw ginger whenever possible as opposed to ginger spice (source).
  • Orange: orange juice that comes from the oranges is naturally sweet, so it is great addition to soften the possible sourness of the lemon and kiwi. They are also a great source of vitamin C (source).
  • Lemon: add lemons to this amazing immunity boost juice to get your daily value vitamin C (source).

Top tip: choose organic produce whenever possible.

How To Make Immune Booster Juice: Step by Step

Follow these simple steps to make this immunity juice shot that offers amazing health benefits. Depending on the equipment you have, I am listing two possibilities.

In a blender:

1. Peel and cut up the ingredients before putting into a blender.

2. Add water (about 3 or more oz) to reach desired consistency.

In a juicer:

1. Peel and cut up the ingredients before putting into a juicer.

Top tip: the immunity booster juice when it comes out from a blender as a smoothie will be full of fiber and a thicker consistency with bits of fruit inside. The one made in a juicer will have far less fiber and will be more juice-like which might be preferable for kids.

Storage

You can store your immunity booster juice in one of the following ways:

  • store in a closed glass jar for up to 3 days in the fridge
  • freeze in an ice tray and store for up to 3 months in a freezer.

Variations

The immunity booster juice recipe is a great starting point if you want to add some variations to it in terms of different ingredients or some add-ins:

  • replace orange and/or lemon with fresh grapefruit juice.
  • replace kiwi with green apple.
  • add some leafy greens for an additional nutritional punch.
  • add some raw honey to make it sweeter for kids (only for kids above 1 year old).

FAQ

How Much Of This Juice Do I Need To Drink?

There really is not firm answer for this question. If you are eating a lot of fresh produce then I would suggest one serving a day to add to your body's natural defenses. If you are low in consuming the fresh produce department, then at least 2 servings are required or even more.

How Much Calories Does One Serving Have?

One serving has about 90 calories which all come from natural sugar sources. If you were to add raw honey, than that value would be a bit higher.
