Preventing and Treating Colds

Colds tend to sneak up on you. One day you hear someone sniff on the train and the next thing you know your whole face is leaking. But when our kids get sick it can turn the world upside down.

Not only are they crankier than usual but they might also have trouble eating and sleeping. Meanwhile, you're no longer able to get anything done while you're just caring for them.

However, their nutrition doesn't have to be difficult, or time-consuming, and can actually go a long way to helping both prevention and recovery. The right food with the right nutrients can sometimes be a lifesaver for the body while it's fighting off diseases.

Immunity Booster Nutritional Stuff

Kiwis are a great source of vitamin C which acts as one of the main antioxidants in the body helping the prevention and treatment of colds. It's also a great source of vitamin K and copper which can support the immune system.

Ginger is a must-have food if you want to use nutrition to treat or prevent a cold. It's used to help fight all sorts of different diseases due to its anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols.

Carrots are a good source of carotenoid compounds, especially beta-carotene which is a precursor of vitamin A in the body.

Immunity Booster Preparation Tips

This is as easy to prepare as it is to throw the ingredients in a blender. Then just add water until you get to whatever consistency you like. For kids, we usually make it a bit thinner just so it goes down easier, but it's up to you.

If you let it sit for a while then it might also help to give it a quick shake before you drink.
