Made with just 4 ingredients, this creamy, vitamin rich, healthy Mango Pineapple Smoothie with banana is a delicious breakfast or afternoon snack.
So, a lot of people love the McDonalds' Mango Pineapple Smoothie, and I get it, it looks delicious. So we tried to make it taste similar here, but a healthier version made with real fruit.
We love this healthy smoothie recipe because it:
- can be made with fresh or frozen mango and pineapple
- has potassium-rich, creamy banana
- nutrient-rich
- can be made with milk or dairy-free / vegan if you use plant-based milk
- made without yogurt
- delicious breakfast or snack
- great for kids and adults; even my 1.5 year old loved it
Ingredients and benefits
- Mango - a good source of vitamin A, mangos can promote skin and eye health. It also has a fair amount of vitamin K which helps the blood clot effectively and prevent anemia.
- Pineapple - contains a specific enzyme that can help digestion and reduce inflammation and swelling such as sinusitis and sore throat. It is also an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese
- Banana - one of the best sources of potassium which makes it a great blood pressure-lowering food. It is also a great food if you are suffering from diarrhea as it can quickly replenish the micromineral stores in the body
- Milk - a source of protein, calcium and fat (if using the full-fat animal-based option) which helps bone growth and development in children. If using a plant-based version, then make sure it doesn't have added sugar or sweeteners and if possible it is calcium or vitamin D fortified

- to make it thicker add some ice cubes or more frozen fruit or more banana
- to make it sweeter add honey
- always put liquid first in the blender to prevent it from jamming
- store in the freezer for up to 3 months
- store in fridge up to 3 days
Blenders
- we have tried making this in 2 blenders
- Vitamix - top of the range blender, worth every penny, but if making 1 smoothie it is sometimes a bigger pain to wash up
- Magic Bullet - great small blender for everyday use, where the cup you use to blend the ingredients is also the cup you can use to drink the smoothie, hence minimizing washing
Variations and add-ons
- add oats for a breakfast smoothie (about 1 oz or 30g)
- add superfoods such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds
- add honey to make it sweeter
- use coconut milk instead of milk to make it taste more like a Piña Colada
