healthy toddler snack ideas on-the-go

As we've cruised into summer here in the northern hemisphere in the middle of the pandemic, hopefully some of you still have the possibility to plan a vacation.

Or at least take a few days and spend with your babies, toddlers, and kids outdoors. Which also means thinking about healthy toddler snacks.

Toddler Snacks

Either way you probably still have to feed your kids (especially toddlers!) with numerous daily meals with the hope that you're making them healthy and nutritious.

This can be a challenge if you're spending most of your time outside unable to quickly prepare fresh and warm meals or snacks.

So these pre-prepped healthy toddler snacks for on-the-go snacking could be a real lifesaver and also let you enjoy your day out with your kids.

You will be able to quickly whip up a few healthy toddler snacks in no time, leaving all the free time to enjoy with your family.

In case you have a baby then we have a separate post with snacks for babies.

How to Make Healthy Toddler Snacks for On-the-go?

The key to preparing healthy toddler snacks to take with you is really just to adapt them in a way that makes them portable, doesn't require cooling or heating, and can be served easily anywhere.

So I've chosen a few different options for you to try including finger foods, drinkable healthy snacks, and healthy baked snack ideas.

How to Pack a Healthy Toddler Snack?

Travel Containers For Toddler Snacks

A durable, functional travel container for kids snacks is a must-have. You'd want to invest in a one that will keep your snacks in one place and ready to be served. Aim for eco-friendly options like glass containers, stainless steel, or silicone.

Take a look at some of our choices below:

Nutritious Toddler Snack Food

When thinking about preparing and packing a super-healthy, nutritious, and delicious on-the-go toddler snack, make sure you are including all 3 macronutrients along with some produce and fiber.

Wholegrain products, fruit, and veggies, as well as some protein and fat-filled food like nuts, seeds, oils, and legumes, are all great options.

All of our recipes below have some combination of the above, with pancakes with fruit and vegetables, vegetable cheesecakes, nutrient-rich smoothies, and much more.

Respect Kid Snack Times

No matter where you are, if you are the kind of person that follows a feeding schedule (and we recommend you do, and we talk more about baby and toddler feeding schedules here) try and respect your child's normal schedule and that snacks should come in between meals.

Toddlers thrive on predictable routines so setting aside 15-20 minutes to sit down and acknowledge the fact that it's time for a toddler snack is the right approach. Avoid letting them walk or run around while eating. Not only is it confusing for them but also is a choking risk.

Healthy On-The-Go Toddler Snacks

The below snack ideas that I have chosen are all simple and easy to prepare and can all be served on-the-go. They are also great snack ideas to serve at home and even adapt to make them the perfect baby snacks, kids' snacks, or even healthy adult snacks. So let's dig in!
